Day 1 You are met by an African Timeout guide at Johannesburg International airport or any hotel in Gauteng. Your journey eastward will take you across the rolling grasslands of the Highveld towards the majestic east Drakensberg Mountains. Drive through the well-known trout fishing towns of Belfast, Dullstroom and Lydenberg to begin the climb over the famous Long Tom Pass amongst the finest scenery in the country. From over 2000 meters the road winds down through cool forests of Pine and Eucalyptus trees to the picturesque town of Sabie. Proceeding through the age-old towns and forests, we visit the Mac Mac falls and the tourist friendly town of Graskop, with its many Curio shops. The afternoon is spent visiting the spectacular scenic areas of the Panorama route with stops at Gods window, Bourke’s luck potholes and the three rondawels in the Blyde canyon. We arrive at the famous Thornybush game reserve where we get ready for our first game drive. Overnight at Tangala
Day 2,3, After a very early morning rise with coffee and tea you proceed on the morning game drive
THIS IS AFRICA Hear the lions roar while you enjoy sundowners as the sun slips behind the Blue Mountains in the west. Big 5 and other wildlife in the Thornybush Private Game Reserve have habituated this region for thousands of years. Experience wildlife and expert interpretations, as guided bush walks will enlighten you with creatures big and small. The biodiversity of the reserve attracts a wide variety of wildlife including the ‘Big 5’. Our staff includes well-trained and experienced rangers who will share with you one of Africa’s most splendid ecosystems. After brunch, relax around the pool and watch the animals frequent the nearby waterhole. The afternoon evening drive is the ideal way to end the day before a scrumptious meal.
Last Day On completion of your last game drive and a hearty meal the long road back to Johannesburg is taken with arrival late afternoon.

Tangala has striking views of the Drakensberg Mountains and is close (20min) to the Orpen Gate of the world famous Kruger National Park. Our camp consist of a central dining and lounge area with full bar and a swimming pool with a deck.
